Digital BW, The Print

i have just attained a epson 1280 for black and white and was 
wondering if i should go with lyson or piezo. the problem there is 
they want 299.00 for the piezo kit. my big question is should i get 
just the inks or should i buy the whole kit. i am new to black and 
white and i'm not sure if it would be worth paying for a bunch of 
profiles.  i know its all just personal taste but would like to here 
from the pros here. thanks for any help that you offer. have a great
