Re: [Digital BW] Epson 2000P and UT workflow?

2003-12-13 by pathensley1

I just bought the UT set a week ago, hooked up one of my 2000p's, &
I've been struggling to get a smooth gradation ever since. The
curves I downloaded for the 2000p just aren't quite right for my
setup (using Epson matte & Vesta lustre). First, I have to do a 90
to 97 curve in rgb just to get the print as dark as my monitor (I'm
calibrated perfectly for color) - this gives me a fairly decent
gradation on the test strip, but still off enough in some steps to
cause odd posterization on some prints.

Are there folks using UT-1 w/the Epson 2000p's successfully? If so,
I'd love to hear from you & try your curves. Could I be missing
something in the workflow causing my disappointing results? - I've
read the workflow pages many times over & can't find the problem.

I don't have a 1280 to throw into the mix, but I can certainly
convert & dedicate the UT-1/2000p CFS over to my 1270 w/minimum fuss
& expense (just 1 empty color cartridge) if I can expect better
results.

If I just need to take my curves, my printed test strips, my flatbed
scanner & the PS eyedropper & play w/the curves I've got until I get
good results, then I'm prepared to do that - I just need some expert
advice on where to start.
