Yes, the Lightness channel...then, salt to taste. :>) IOW, vary the opacity to your liking. If preview is checked, you'll see the image lighten/darken somewhat similar to moving the center slider in Levels. As for including it or not, I simply picked this up from a tutorial on www.imagingrevue.com.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
