This is my report on the dotworks paper and profile. I ordered the paper as soon as I heard the report posted here. The paper arrived promptly after ordering it, within the week. The paper itself is very heavy and appears to be very nice. Its white point is more yellow than the Epson enhanced Matte and that may be why it experiences less metamerizm. That is, perhaps less yellow ink is needed since the paper is yellowish to begin with, and as a result, less metamerizm is produced. Who knows, but it does appear to be the case that the paper exhibits less metamerizm than anything printed on the Epson enhanced Matte. It turns out that on my printer, the prints turn out a little yellowish green. Okay, more than just a little. The prints appear less yellowish green than on Epson enhanced Matte paper using the same profile but still not quite neutral. Your mileage may vary. The exact name of the paper I am using is "Nature Jet Coated Inkjet Paper 100% Cotton 15 Mil." I did experience a problem using the matte black cartridge on this dotworks paper. It turns out the paper cannot handle too much of the matte black ink. The darkest 1/8th of a gray test pattern that I use turns glossy and dMax is impaired. This problem is alleviated by using the photo black ink cart but then the dMax suffers because of the photo black on Matte paper (flat, very flat). So, the bottom line for me is, I switched back over to the Epson enhanced Matte paper and this dotworks profile to see what I could do. I have to say though, the prints are quite nice on Epson enhanced Matte paper with this profile (2200_FHM.icm). For Qimage users who want to play around with this profile on Epson enhanced Matte paper, I developed a quick curve that tends to neutralize this profile on Epson enhanced Matte paper even further. It is still a moss-toned print (mostly in the upper mids), but the overall print seems to work. Actually I have three curves: '6, '4, and 'Latest, '6 should be more neutral than '4 and 'Latest is like '4 only warmer. Just copy the files to the Qimage "filters" folder and apply the filter (which is a curve) either as a filter for the image or as a print filter. You can find the Qimage curves here: http://tiyoweh.ugate.net/2200_FHM6.flt http://tiyoweh.ugate.net/2200_FHM4.flt http://tiyoweh.ugate.net/2200_FHM-latest.flt Regards, Charlie --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "Shilesh Jani" <shilesh.jani@s...> wrote: > ... > I went to his home last night and saw first-hand how he stumbled upon > this.
