Thanks, Paul, for information. I've made a few prints with UT inkset on my new 1280 -- overall I'm happy with the tonal transitions, the shadow and highlight detail, and the general look. What seems to be lacking -- and, again, I've only made a few prints, so this is provisional judgement -- is a strong, deep black. I got more of one with the Generations black that I was using a few months ago. Anyway, that lack of black is why I'm interested in exploring the semi- gloss/semi-matte alternatives. Do the curves you've developed for various matte papers (and the Eboni black) require much tweaking to get good results with the MIS PK and Epson's semi-gloss/semi-matte papers?
