If you use the 2200 with ultrachrome inks you will need the RIP to get decent b/w prints. If you use the Ultratone or Quad inks, you don't need a RIP, just use the workflow and curves that are supplied from Paul Roark. Personally, I use my 2200 for color and a 1270 with MIS b/w inkset for black and white.
