Digital BW, The Print

About 10 months ago, I went to the Epson website and downloaded a
driver update file for my 2200.  I didn't notice it immediately, but
the new driver has eliminated all but 4 of the paper choices:
Watercolor ("radiant white"), Enhandced matte, Plain, and Velvet. 
What happened to all the other types, like film transparency,
backlght, luster, etc--why, there's not even good old glossy there! 
Meanwhile, the profiles have been expanded to cover paper types no
long even listed among the choices.  What is this all about?  What
paper setting should one use, for example, to print to a transparency
surface or to glossy paper?
