1160 Paper Feed Question

2004-01-17 by ritab19106@aol.com

I have always struggled with the paper feed on my Epson 1160 when using
heavier papers. The printer just shoots the paper right through without printing.
I've tried flipping the paper thickness switch, and have experimented with an
assortment of "backers" in various thicknesses. I also have held onto the
paper and tried to manually encourage the grabbing mechanism. Nothing has
consistently worked; one out of ten times things go fine for no reason that I can
ever determine.

I recall reading about a technique where the paper feeding button is
depressed first, before sending the file to the printer. Could someone elaborate on
this strategy? (Wouldn't it just feed the paper through without printing?)
Or, I would appreciate hearing of any other remedies that have been successful
for list members.

Thanks,

Rita Bernstein
