Charles, >I've been using the MIS-UT inkset in my 1280. I get great prints, >but I have finally come around to the idea that I prefer matte prints >to glossy ... Matte printing is very important to me also. In the 2200 with UT-22 I may not support Photo K at all. Eboni is the black ink, and the glossy printing will all be with curves that leave the Eboni in the printer and print with the dark midtones. With dmax readings of 2.2 and 2.3 on Premium Semigloss and Ilford Pearl, and given the importance of matte printing, I don't think it's worth messing with Photo K with that inkset. In the 1280 with UT2, I'd also stick with Eboni. The UT1 inkset is a slightly tougher call. Even there, however, the midtone glossy midtones are not bad at all with just the dark gray midtone ink. >... the question is - are the Eboni and Photo black >compatible enough that I could switch the bottles and run a >buncha purge patterns on my CIS to switch the inks over, or is it really >important to have a dedicated Eboni CIS cart? I'd highly recommend getting a new cart for the Eboni. Paul www.PaulRoark.com For UT2 information and settings see: http://home1.gte.net/res09aij/
