Digital BW, The Print

I just joined the group. Sorry if I bring up a subject that has 
already been discussed. 

My Epson 1280 died (due to the incompetent, ignorant people at 
inkjetart.com) and I switched my Piezography printing to a new Epson 
3000 with the ICC profile and a Spyder calibrated Formac monitor on 
XP. It is not even close to acceptable. I dropped the whole idea of 
using ICC.

I went back to the "export" plugin but the prints are not as 
predictable as it was on the old printer. 

Does anyone have a suggestion or is there a special trick for the 
Epson 3000?
