No, polaroid chemicals dry out way before the film goes bad.  Even 
refrigeration is probably a bad idea because it it so dry in there.

...also don't know why you think they didn't make the 8x10" stuff, 
b&h has 3 varieties in stock right now (2 b&w and one color):
