Re: [Digital BW] Epson 2200- need to print black and white..

2004-02-07 by Steve Kale

I have learnt that a colour managed (read: synced) workflow simply will not
yet produce good B&W. If you use a profile you are still stuck with how the
Epson driver produces shade of grey x, ie the mix of colour inks to produce
grey. This is the fundamental problem and no profile will help. Hence the
solution is found in either (a) using a different driver/RIP which better
controls the colour inks (ie QTR or Imageprint) or (b) quad ink sets that
have no colour (except for tinting) or c) black only.

Paul-

As a result of your post, I checked this out (thanks for the impetus,
been meaning to do it foreve). It can be found on the epson support
site...just there for 9600 and 7600 but lots of info that says it
might work for the 2200 as well.

I'm possibly using them wrong (but I read and re-read the memo of
insturction that came with it) but I have a horrible...horrible green
cast to all BW prints.

If no one else replies that they are using them successfully, I would
pass.

cheers,
