The 890 is the same thing as a 1280 but on a smaller chassis that only prints up to 8.5x11. They are only available at Epson.com refurbished for $129 including S&H. People thought they needed to print bigger so the 890 didn't go over in the market and are no longer being manufactured. For $129 they are a real bargain. I have two Epson refurbished printers (1280 & 890) and could not tell them from new when they arrived.
