All the recent Epson carts have a 'poppet valve' in them that seals
them off; Oddly enough, the ultra-cheap Chinese dye inks that MIS
has a $5 sale on, also has them, suggesting they come from the same
factory? At any rate, they're handy gadgets, because they make
vacuum-refillng easy if you're going to keep using dye inks. I found
that if I tape the vent holes shut (after I've sucked out as much
ink as possible with them open) and create a vacuum with a syringe,
the valves keep the vacuum when I pull away the syringe. I then
apply a loaded syringe to the chamber, and the vacuum sucks in the
ink. Takes a little parctice to get the right vacuum, etc., but it's
worth the effort!
