Re: [Digital BW] Monitor Calibration

2004-02-24 by Mike Sommers

based on recommendations on this thread, I recently purchased the
Eye-One Display calibration hardware and software from GretagMacBeth.

http://www.i1color.com/products/i1_display.asp

It was easy to install and use, and the results are very good. I have an
el Cheapo LCD monitor and for the life of me I could never get it
calibrated. I actually thought that with my monitor it wasn't going to
be possible to see distinction in each of the steps on the 21 step
grayscale wedge.

After running the Eye-One "Match" software (which comes with the
"Display" package), I am now seeing clear distinction between each step
on the wedge, and my color and B&W images on my monitor look 100 times
"better" (I know.... "better" is a hard word to quantify)...

As an aside.. I don't know which packaging came first, the Apple iPod or
the GretagMacbeth Eye-One Display... but whichever one came second
should be ashamed of itself.
