Ed - I found HW Matte to plug up in the shadows, too. I switched to EEM and
it's better. The media type stays to HW Matte on the driver, though. At
first, I was getting dmax readings of 1.68 to 1.72, but I was losing shadow
detail. What I do now is move the whole the image adjustment curve up. Now I
get only around 1.64 dmax but I'm getting better shadow detail. I'm thinking
the C84 lays down too much ink. I was toying with the idea of switching from
"no color management" to "custom" and trying to reduce the saturation
slider. Maybe that's totally misguided.
