RE: [Digital BW] Problem with UT2 / 1280

2004-02-28 by Paul Roark

I have some slider setting for glossy paper, UT2 & 1280 at
http://home1.gte.net/res09aij/UT2-Readme.htm .

Be sure the settings are as set out in that Readme file.

Let me know if MIS has different settings.

Subject: [Digital BW] Problem with UT2 / 1280

I recently installed a UT2 inkset in a new factory rebuilt Epson 1280
printer. When I print using Slider Controls or curves, I get very
uneven distribution of densities at the light and dark ends of the
scale as measured with a X-RITE 810 densitometer;

Light Density
0% 0.09
5% 0.11
10% 0.14
15% 0.18
Dark Density
85% 1.71
90% 2.05
95% 2.23
100% 2.24

Between 20-80% the distribution is relatively even. Using curves, the
distribution is even worse. I have reviewed the latest instructions
on the MIS website and I believe I'm following them pretty closely.
Any suggestions as to what the problem might be?
