Printer Settings

2004-03-02 by Trish McAuslan

Hi All
I have recently loaded Panther onto my MAC. I have an Epson 1270
printer and I am using the drivers for it which come with Panther
Now I am faced with a bewildering array of options. I either use the
printer for documents or for printing photos. Can anyone explain some
of these things to me and what setting I should be using for photos.

1	There is a huge range of paper but when I choose the appropriate
paper it does't seem to have any effect on the other settings - so
what effect does choosing the paper have?

2 Under Resolution there are the following options. What do they mean
and what should I choose when I want to print photos? (Some I
understand but I have included them all)
		360 DPI
		360 DPI Unidirectional
		720 x 360 DPI
		720 x360 DPI Undirectional
		720 DPI
		720 DPI Undirectional
		720 DPI High Quality
		720 DPI High Quality Unidirectional
		720 DPI Highest Quality
		1440 x 720 DPI
		1440 x 720 DPI Unidirectional
		1440 x 720 DPI Highest Quality

3 Gamma is set at 1.0
Should this be changed to 1.8?

Cheers
Trish
