I have received some prints yesterday that were supposed to show me what the BW images printed on the 7600 using UC inks and Imageprint were capable of. They were printed using the 2200 with Imageprint, the photo/matte black ink in a Lyson inkset and on Epson AM paper, where we are planning on using Hahnemuhle Photo Rag. I understand that this will not give me a very good idea and today they are sending more at least with the matte black and Epson inks, but same printer and paper. But I was quite disappointed in the prints. They were very grey where the shadow areas in the prints I had before from our Colorspan using 4 Blacks were rich and velvety black (same files). Am I to expect that the results I will get will be not a very deep black? I have a sample print that Cone Editions sent out (not my file) and the print was lovely with rich tones in the shadows. Can I expect the same with Imageprint, and the UC inks? I am nervous to invest more money and find that I am disappointed again.
