Ericka;

Every once in a while I have had this problem.

Somehow once in a while a "blob" of ink drips out of the heads and on 
to the rollers inside the printer causing the black dots that you 
describe. If you pop the lid on your 1280 and look at the grey rollers 
that come in contact with your paper I bet you will see some in 
droppings. Also you might notice some ink on the long white nylon part 
that holds the rollers in place.

I get out a clean cotton rag and soak  a wadded end with Film Cleaner 
(other solvents will also work). I then clean away any ink laden areas. 
I finish this off by spraying the cleaned area with some canned air.

This procedure has always worked for me!
