-----Original Message----- From: jarrrush [mailto:johnr@...] Sent: 16 March 2004 17:35 To: DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com Subject: [Digital BW] newbie - ColorVision vs ColorBlind vs LaCie I understand that once I profile my monitor, I will still have to use canned profiles or have a profile made to help match my prints to the monitor? It looks like various companies sell software and devices to assist in making profiles of your own but it is not clear to me whether there is an affordable option (sub-$1000) for profiling my prnter. Suggestions on this? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Look at the Eye One Photo from Gretag. You will then be able to produce profiles for both monitor and printer. I have found this package gives a better result than ColorVision for both monitor and printer and current prices are just over $1,000.00. I use it with a LaCie 19Blue Monitor and an Epson 1290 printer. Gretag give you a spectrophotometer with the software which you use to profile for both devices and is a much more precise product than the spyder. It's also dead easy to use and you can add other device profiling capabilities as software upgrades if you wish to at a later date.
