Bob, WEP is the wireless encryption protocol. It is found in properties of the devices using 802.1 wireless. It can be disabled by unchecking the box. What I think was happening with my setup is that as the encrypted data was transmitted the target device, the target could not keep up with decryption and eventually the connection failed. Then, reboot or reconnect and all OK for a while and then failure. This may not apply to your situation, but your situation did have some features in common. Good luck.
