Unless Epson has radically redisgned the drivers a la ImagePrint, the best to be hoped for is neutrality in a single lighting condition known beforehand, not the elimination of metamerism. And if they have so radically redesigned the drivers, I can't think of any reason why such drivers couldn't be made available for existing Ultrachrome printers. Don't get me wrong: I would love for an Epson ultrachrome printer to produce neutral, non-colorshifting B&Ws out of the box. But I ain't holding my breath. If I'm wrong, I'll buy 2 4000s and take my words back immediately.
