Good answer! All I can say is when I put several close but subtly different prints behind glass together, many, many, subtleties are rendered indistinguishable, or barely relevant. For better, or worse. For me sharpness, color, and tonality, were much more important characteristics than dmax, behind glass. Some might say in all cases, but that might be debatable...
