I find this intriguing.  When I had Photoshop 6 and PS7 came out 
everone raved about the healing tool, while I was happy using 16 bit 
in PW3 and the speck removal tool.  I skipped PS 7 but now I have PS8 
on a 2400 Athlon with 1.5 Gb DDR, the healing tool and clone tools 
are slow.  So I go to PW3, which is much faster, for speed and in my 
view, speck remover is better than the healing brush. Each to his 
own! <g>
