Drove me nuts for a few hours. In my quest for printing speed (hey that project was 1,280 11x17 passes through the printer) I had checked "High Speed" Printer Settings at 1440 dpi. Interestingly, I was getting away with it until about 3/4 of the way through the project. After numerous head cleanings and a few head alignment procedures, I unchecked "High Speed" and the problem disappeared. That may, or may not be the culprit in your case, but it was in mine. David
