I can tell you what I do, though I don't have a very good technical
explanation. I use Epson UC inks in my 2200. For neutral tone b&w, I just
convert the RGB print to grayscale before printing, and it works fine. If I
attempt to print a neutral b&w print in RGB, then color shift sets in. For
warm-toned prints, I use PhotoKit and either sepia or platinum filters. By
using the Epson paper profiles posted on their site in Jan. 04 I get prints
that are an exact match to the monitor (calibrated with SpyderPro). This is
with the soft-proofing feature of Photoshop CS. Best of luck.
