JPEG is not lossless, and has compression artifacts that you may or may not
find objectionable. However, it also only captures eight bits of depth, and
the default settings result in some shadow and highlight clipping. You're
better off shooting raw, and converting to 48-bit TIFF if you're unwilling
just to keep them in raw form.
