Digital BW, The Print

This has probably been beaten to death! But, with my new Canon Rebel I
can produce either high quality RAW files or high quality JPG files.
From the former I extract TIF files. Presumably the JPG files are
produced as lossless.

Question: I want the highest quality inage possible with this camera.
Is there a difference in the quality of the final TIF and JPG files?

JPEG is not lossless, and has compression artifacts that you may or may not
find objectionable. However, it also only captures eight bits of depth, and
the default settings result in some shadow and highlight clipping. You're
better off shooting raw, and converting to 48-bit TIFF if you're unwilling
just to keep them in raw form.
