Instead of a new sharpener, have to tried making the same print at 1440 and at 2880 dpi and see if you can tell the difference with your naked eye? Granted you'll have to use another sharperner for this comparison, just use the one in PS. I can't see the difference. But then Peter Nelson one told me I just must have bad eyesight if the BO dots didn't bother me. FWIW, my up close vision is 20/15. You may just eliminate the need for a new sharperner and speed up your printing at the same time.
