Digital BW, The Print

After finally clearing an incorrigible clog on my Epson 1160, I managed to 
produce several beautiful prints before stray ink marks began appearing randomly 
on my prints.  The ink drops are mostly, but not exclusively, in the image 
area, and the pattern varies from print to print. 

I vaguely remember reading that others have had this problem, but I cannot 
recall the remedy.  Can anyone help?
