RE: [Digital BW] 3000/quads vs. 2200

2004-05-15 by Paul Roark

Steve,

Doing 16 x 20" prints is still something the old 3000 can do quite well and
the 13" printers can't.

I'm in essentially the same situation as you. I have a 3000, currently
filled with UT-FSN (and getting perfect nozzle checks even after sitting
unused for months), and Piezo software that I'll be getting rid of. (In my
case it's to make room for a 4000.) On Ebay it looks like the printers
ought to be worth about $250 - $300+. The old Piezo software might at
another couple bucks.

I suppose being situated close to the seller is probably a major variable,
to avoid shipping costs.

At any rate, I'm going to either sell mine of give it to the local high
school.

Subject: [Digital BW] 3000/quads vs. 2200

Now that the subject of 2200 B&W has been brought up, I have a question
that's been on my mind a lot lately. I had been using my 3000 with MIS full
spectrum inks and the Piezo driver for B&W, and the 2200 for color. But
since I finally got to trying the 2200 for B&W, I was totally blown away
with the quality. Plus no banding on heavy paper, faster printing too. Can
anyone think of any reason, other than cost of inks, to continue using the
3000 for B&W? Is there any chance of selling the 3000? (If anyone is
interested in it, with remaining inks and the Piezo driver, let me know.)

Thanks,
Steve
