Out of the box, 1280's dye inks have more vibrant colors and denser blacks,
but naturally they fade pretty quickly. You can of course use 3rd party
pigs, which I suppose puts you into the same ballpark as the 2200. For my
style, the 2200 is plenty vibrant enough, but I know people who won't put up
with anything but dyes, hang the longevity.

But there are plenty of ancillary reasons for preferring the 2200: smaller
droplets, faster, FireWire interface, seven color, individual ink tanks,
paper cutter.
