Richard: I use an 1160 with a CIS kit and as far as ink flow it is pretty much utterly reliable. I have had problems with pigmented ink residue collecting on the bottom of the print heads, necessitating frequent cleaning, but not recently since using a different ink formula, so I can't blame that on the printer. I use a quad black system and for my use the 1160 is a terrific printer. I'm looking for another one as a backup / second ink set. That said, I can't imagine why any printer would fail to flow ink from a new cart unless the heads themselves were clogged. If you send me your email address off list I'll send you a word doc attachment with some pretty comprehensive cleaning procedures that might resurrect your 1200.
