There is about 30gb free and it is regularly defragged - can't see this as a cause but I will check it. Incidentally - it seems Epson were right with their last comment, hyperthreaded P4 + USB2 + 4000 = trouble with some chipsets and set- ups. Switching to firewire and I haven't had the problem again (yet). I assume they will fix this bug in the next download The beauty of owning an early model..... Thanks for your help. Steve
