Stephen & Steve,

Have you looked at the partition on which you spool your printer files? It
needs a large space that is unfragmented. By default it uses the System
partition, but you can move it to another. Does your System partition have
plenty of free space, and is it unfragmented? After a new installation you
tend to have files all over the place on the System disk - it needs
defragging to tidy it up. This has been the cause of some other similar
problems.

I think the problem is in the Windows spooling system; it seems to
me the spooler is simply dumping half the job, or never spooled it
in the first place. Have you done all the Windows SP1 updates?
Surprisingly enough not all of them are security-hole related.

Hi Bob - thanks for the heads up. I am running a mirror RAID array
with the system on its own disk. There is about 30gb free and it is
regularly defragged - can't see this as a cause but I will check it.
Incidentally - it seems Epson were right with their last comment,
hyperthreaded P4 + USB2 + 4000 = trouble with some chipsets and set-
ups.

Switching to firewire and I haven't had the problem again (yet).
I assume they will fix this bug in the next download

The beauty of owning an early model.....

Thanks for your help.

Steve

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
