Re: MIS VM Yellow Position Primarily for warming?

2004-05-29 by Andrew Unger

Tim- My MIS VM set for the 1160 has a blue tint in the Y position.
For the warmest print no Y is used. Progessively more is used to
get a cooler image. If you have the sepia VM set, I think the tint
is a brown and the "cool" starting point would be neutral. Each
step towards full sepia would employ more tint.

I switched from the original Roark curves to the UT1 curves without
switching from the original inkset and found the transition much
smoother. The prints look better. I haven't tinkered with the
curves, but it seems obvious to me that if tint is added, some of
the other ink is subtracted. If you start from a curve that employs
the tint and then simply suppress it, the print will be too light.

Hope this helps. -Andy
