Digital BW, The Print

I don't know about Canon printers, but with Epson models you must
leave them there.  The printer won't run without them. The printer
periodically does its own cleaning cycles, and a little bit of all the
inks gets injected through the head.  So even though you do only BO
prints, eventually all the inks get used and have to be replaced.
