Thanks for your reply Johnny. However this i950 doesn't have a straight "black" only position for printing. All black on white text, images, are printed using the color inks as well, that's why is impossible to obtain a b/w print straight out of the printer's driver. I guess the original design idea was to build a color photo printer, with less regard for b/w printing! I did some tests last night, per Canon's tech support, in order to eliminate the bluish tint that comes in grayscale mode printing. Even with extreme settings in the color adjustments + grayscale mode, nothing happens! Basically, the color manual settings have NO influence in the grayscale printing! I don't know if this is a design fault, but it doesn't work. Which means that there's a preinstalled profile for text, b/w, grayscale printing, that can't be altered by user. So, after a bit more reading, I went to Lyson and installed some ICM for this model. I printed some tests but I can't give a final comment yet, since it was too late to view the prints in daylight. Sure, the ICM is meant for some of their ink+paper combination, but I'd like to see at this point if there is possible to produce a closer b/w print just by using another profile. Sure, it should be possible to create a profile in PS for ex., just that I wanted a quick image of what is possible. I'm not sure if I asked already this in this forum, meanwhile I've found a Canon printing group, but would it be possible to replace all 5 color inks with black carts and use only BO printing this way?? Ara PS - ha, I see I asked this in my original message already! :) --- Johnny Eades <jeades1@...> wrote: > Hello Ara, > > I don't have a Canon i950 but I think all printers have similar > characteristics; one of them being the choice of using only black > ink for making a print.
