It's not as good as dedicated curves, but nice results can be gained. I use my HP 7660 for portraits though, as much smoother skin tones are gained. I have had a lot of trouble with ink flow with the 1200, however, and some smooth-toned prints look rough next to the reliable HP - the droplet size must be a lot bigger, I presume.
