Norm: the Epson 1280 black is a dye ink which will fade over time. Eboni is pigment, which is archival. The Epson black seems to be a bit on the too warm side. Epson prefilled carts are very expensive and you get about 14cc of ink, Eboni comes in 4oz bottles for $18. But, if you like the Epson K, there's no reason in the world for you to not use it.
