Thanks for your response. You must be kept very busy answering emails
- do you ever get a chance to "do your own work"? I've seen some of
your images on your web page and am very impressed.

Re your response: I seem to be able to get the curves working in PSP
there is a "converter" that allows me to do that. At least clicking on
the appropriate curve in the "Curves" window does something - and FWIW
- I get essentially the same results when I use Picture Window.

 I suppose it's always possible there was a bad batch of inks in the
cartridges.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
