I have written about this previously; I must be doing something wrong. I've followed Paul Roark's very carefully but keep getting only sepia toned prints. I'm using Paint Shop with a 1280 printer. Without the curve corrections I get a very good black print. I wonder if anyone else has had this problem - and if it was corrected, I'd appreciate knowing how.

The curves are not compatible with Paint Shop. Photoshop Picture Window are the only programs I know of that can directly use the curves. Photoshop Elements can us the curves if they are first put onto an adjustment layer. At one point someone on the list did figure out a way to use the curves in Paint Shop, but since I didn't have the program, I don't remember what was done. Paul, Thanks for your response. You must be kept very busy answering emails - do you ever get a chance to "do your own work"? I've seen some of your images on your web page and am very impressed. Re your response: I seem to be able to get the curves working in PSP there is a "converter" that allows me to do that. At least clicking on the appropriate curve in the "Curves" window does something - and FWIW - I get essentially the same results when I use Picture Window. I'd be pleased to send you a copy of my "purge" printout if you send me your mailing address. Alternatively, you can mail me at: A. B. Amster 1418 Sydnor Ave Ridgecrest, CA 93555 I suppose it's always possible there was a bad batch of inks in the cartridges. Thanks again. --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "Paul Roark" <paul.roark@v...> wrote: > The curves are not compatible with Paint Shop. I'll send some scans of UT2 purge patterns off list, and that should be enough to let you tell whether the inks are right. However, be sure you are using the right curves. In past e-mails you've said you are using UT2 inks. The "Subject" line of the e-mail suggests you are using the UT80 curves. Those are for the UT1 inkset and will now work with the UT2 inkset. The curves you want all begin with, "UT2 ..." Paul www.PaulRoark.com For UT2 & UT7 information, curves, and settings see: http://home1.gte.net/res09aij/ _____________________________________
