Digital BW, The Print

I have a NoMoreCarts CIS on one Epson 1200 printer, and a recent MIS
system on another. They are not the same.

The new MIS system provides two filling methods; I used the vacuum fill
option and it worked flawlessly. A plus.

But the feed arrangement with the MIS system did allow the ribbon tubing
to contact the surface below the print head (where all the little paper
rollers are) briefly, and in my case, at least, this was not harmless.
Sometimes the print head would collide with the ribbon tubing, sending
the printer into violent convulsions and spoiling the print. I solved
the problem by modifying the acrylic plastic bracket that supports the
tubing near the center of the printer to hold the tubing higher. The
NoMoreCarts system uses a bracket of rather different design, which also
holds the ribbon tubing higher. I sent email about this problem to MIS,
but got no answer.

Other than that, both systems have been fine.
