800px screen width, which mean 760px content width to account for 
scrollbars and such. Or you could design a liquid layout that stretches 
to the width of the browser.

Statistics show that large percentages still run 800x600. In addition to 
that many people who run higher resolutions don't run their browsers 
full screen, so you still end up with around 700-1000px usable width.
