I was about to suggest getting _more_ than 1GB of RAM, especially if you're working with MF scans at all. I'm scanning at only 24bit with Epson 3200's at work (which is why I scan at 24 bit, since 48bit, 3200 dpi scans are too big for me to be dealing with at this point), and when I eventually get these home and edit these on my home machine, the various edits take a long time. Even cropping can take several minutes. I am using 1GB of DDR 2700 RAM, on an Athlon 2700+. Scratch disk is a separate physical disk. allan At 10:46 AM 8/16/2004, you wrote: >A friend and I just built a machine with these specs and it screams: > >P4 / 3.2 >2 GB Dual 3200 Ram >Gigabyte/Radeon R9800 XT Graphics Accelerator >Asus P4P800E-DeLuxe (Ticky about the memory it uses) >3-15,000 RPM 17 GB SCSI HDD (One for C-Drive, One for work-in-progress, One >dedicated PS scratch disk) >1-250 SATA 250 GB HDD for storage > >The neat thing about SCSI is that they operate off a SCSI card independent >of the processor.
