Your problems don't seem to be normal Mac behaviour. As a guide, my Mac
takes 7-8 seconds to load Photoshop PS (with Entourage 2004 and other
programmes open). It takes PS CS about a minute to send a 250MB file to my
2100 print queue. The time delay decreases exponentially as the files get
smaller. As soon as the job has been sent, ie the "printing page 1"
dialogue disappears, I can immediately continue editing while the print job
is prepared and ultimately printed. (I haven't yet set up my PS scratch
disks on this machine as I intend to install another hard drive and use that
rather than the slow 80Gb mobile LaCie that I have. I suspect this would
speed things further.)
