The current G5s allow you to have two hard drives installed within them (each at various sizes, 7200rpm). RAID technology is used to manage the two. I suspect you only have one hard drive installed. (Go to your System Profiler via About this Mac and check if you are unsure.) Your LaCie sounds perfectly fine as an external HD/scratch disk (I assume it is firewire). You should make this your primary scratch disk in PS and keep your PS documents on this. OS-X and in all probability unless you did something funky at the time of install will be on your G5 internal HD. This should be your secondary scratch disk (assuming you have no others you want to use ie always the last one). A dual G5 with 2GB of RAM and a 7200rpm Lacie (assuming it has a decent amount of room available) as a scratch disk is a pretty powerful and enviable setup. You should not be having any problems with this - even if editing and rendering video. I agree with Bob that this thread is off-topic and probably should be drawn to a close. I am sure Bob is available off-list should you want to pursue the new PC route. The Adobe PS and Mac discussions will be able to provide you with a lot higher level of technical help with your Mac should you choose to sort it out first. > From: chris <cjones@...> > Reply-To: <DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com> > Date: Wed, 18 Aug 2004 12:55:33 -0400 > To: <DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com> > Subject: RE: [Digital BW] Re: Ideal Windows computer spec > > Steve- > > I am not sure what a dual hard drive is.
