As soon as I get to the studio, I will implement Bob's suggestions.
Hopefully, it will make a difference. Otherwise, I'm buying a PC.

I take it from your comments that you are having some very unusual issues
with your Mac.  OS-X has background printing and so yes you should have full
use of PS once PS has sent the file to the print spooler.  You do not need
to wait for the job to be spooled and printed.
