Thanks again Tom-- You have been a great help, which I very much appreciate. I have installed SB's QTRgui program but have not had the time to use it. It looks like a fairly steep learning curve for me. Still I will give it a good try. This should be fun! In addition to my 7600 I have a 2200 but it is at my house in Florida. I will be there later this week and am looking forward to using QTR to make some prints with the EEM/ matte black ink combo. I think there is a 4000 in my very near future. Tom Fors wrote-- They're "installed" in the sense that QTR knows where to find them. As far as Windows is concerned, they're an unknown (*.quad) file type. They're really nothing more than a text file with some comments (lines beginning with #) and a "curve" for each ink. The curve is just a list of 256 16-bit numbers that tells QTR for each pixel's gray value (0-255) how much ink to put down (0-65535). So, in the case of QTR, yes the profile is really just a set of curves. For ICC profiles, the file format among other things are a bit more complicated. (snipped)
